Dr. Klenk’s career in medicine began as a pediatric nurse at Babies Hospital and Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center. After four years in nursing, she entered medical school and later met Dr. Dorothy Levine during pediatric training. Since 1983, the two have been practicing general pediatrics as the founding partners of New England Pediatrics. Dr. Klenk enjoys caring for healthy children as well as managing complex medical problems such as Anorexia, ADHD, Lyme Disease and Asthma.
In the past, Dr. Klenk has served on the Board of Directors of the Child Guidance Center of Southern Fairfield County and on the Medical Executive Committee of Stamford Hospital. Currently she serves as Associate Chief of Pediatrics of The Stamford Hospital and is an active member of the hospital’s Pediatric Executive Committee and the Pediatrics-Child Psychiatry Liaison Committee. In 2002, Dr. Klenk was featured in New York Magazine’s 1500 ‘Top Doctors in New York & Connecticut,’ and in 2005 was awarded Castle Connolly’s “Top Doctor” honor. And for the second time in 2007 Dr. Klenk was named a "Top Doctor" by New York Magazine.
As one of fourteen siblings, and the mother of six children, Dr. Klenk is a natural match for pediatrics. Her experience and reassuring professional manner give patients and colleagues alike an invaluable perspective. When not looking after children, her own or others’, she enjoys playing solo classical piano, or playing flute and piano duets with Dr. Levine. Dr. Klenk resides in New Canaan with her husband and family.
