A career in ballet or medicine? Fortunately for New England Pediatrics, Dr. Dorothy Levine chose medicine, and in particular, private practice. Since completing their training together in 1983, Dr. Levine and Dr. Rosemary Klenk have practiced general pediatrics as the founding partners of New England Pediatrics. Dr. Levine especially enjoys acute care pediatrics and has managed many challenging patients. Her colleagues recognize Dr. Levine’s staunch dedication to children’s health, and especially her ability to “think outside the box” when faced with a difficult problem. Dr. Levine was awarded Castle Connolly’s “Top Doctor” honor in 2005.

Dr. Levine is a past Trustee of the Fairfield County Medical Society, past President of the Babies Hospital Alumni Association and currently is serving a second term on the Board of Directors of Stamford Hospital. During her first term, she worked tirelessly to establish the Children’s Sub-Specialty Center, at Stamford Hospital’s Tully Health Center. Dr. Levine’s current efforts on the Board’s Strategic Planning Committee center on initiatives to support the community physicians as they face serious constraints on private practice. Dr. Levine has published several articles in Pediatrics, JAMA, and Connecticut Medicine.

Travel, jazz, dance, playing the flute and occasionally scuba diving occupy Dr. Levine’s spare moments. She and her husband, Dr. Alvin Rosenfeld, a child psychiatrist, are the parents of three children and reside in Stamford.
