IMMUNIZATIONSNew England Pediatrics follows the American Academy of Pediatrics and the Centers for Disease Control guidelines for childhood immunizations. We feel strongly that immunizations are the most important way parents and doctors can protect children against serious infectious diseases. Infants and young children are particularly vulnerable to these diseases and as physicians we have seen the devastating but preventable disabilities and complications which can result when children are unvaccinated.

We are well aware of the controversy which surrounds this topic but we are quite confident of the safety and benefits of recommended vaccines. All vaccine administered in our office are thimerosal-free. Our physicians believe that there is no advantage to spreading out the vaccines and that following the recommended schedule is the best standard of care. However, after appropriate discussion, we can modify the schedule as long as a family agrees to complete the recommended schedule by age two years. New England Pediatrics cannot accept patients whose parents refuse all immunizations.

“Thank you so much for
remembering Charlie for the
H1N1 vaccine. You made an
anxious mother very happy!”
